In the context of COP28 UAE, our Chair of the Sustainability Committee Jeroen Kanselaar delivered a speech during the UN Climate Change Conference. On December 3, together with the International Telecommunication Union, Orange, Nokia, Telefònica, and The World Bank, the calls for action of the Green Digital Action track announced at the event "Digital journey to net zero: decarbonizing digital to accelerate the green transition’".
The goal of the Green Digital Action initiative was to advance climate action using digital technology. This project was aiming to unite the global digital community to develop practical solutions, accelerate climate support, and encourage commitments for green and digital transitions from all stakeholders. Additionally, it seeked to foster partnerships and coordination with existing mechanisms, ultimately positioning the ICT sector as a leader in climate action and inspiring other industries to do the same. In this context, the FTTH Council Europe has partnered with the International Telecommunications Union and many other prominent industry players to establish a series of best practices and practical solutions to lower our industry's emissions, supporting companies in their journey towards carbon neutrality.
